About Skyline

Hello—thank you for your interest in learning about my company and our team!

Our Story

Skyline Landscape Design, LLC (Skyline) was created in 2008 by Tina Multhauf nee Michelau and Andrea Henning nee Scott. Andrea and Tina have known each other since they were kids growing up and to this day are still great friends. They went to college together and both graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with their bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture.

The duo both have a passion for plants, the landscape, being creative and working outside. When in college they both had discussed that they wanted to pursue owning a business so they decided to join forces, once they both completed earning their college degrees. At first, they started their business part-time, working on their days off from their full-time jobs, at a local garden center. They started from the ground up with their families and significant others’ (now spouses) amazing support. They helped in so many ways; from letting them borrow a truck and some tools, giving advice to co-signing their first business line of credit.

In 2009, they took their business to full-time status since they had a good foundation of clients from their previous years’ work. It was not the best time to start a business, due to the recession, but they persevered and made it through. They worked in the business for a year or so and decided that they needed help. They took a big step by hiring their first employee in 2010.

Continuing to 2013, at that time they had 4 team members plus themselves working on the crews. Fast forward a few more years, both women were newly married, had toddlers and had another baby on the way.

Which led in to 2016, that Tina became sole owner of Skyline. Andrea needed to pursue a different path due to normal changes in her life. It was hard to see Andrea leave the business they had built together but Tina wanted to keep going with what they both had put their heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into. It took some time for Tina to learn how to run the business without her business partner by her side.

Not before long though, Tina’s husband, Jaime, saw Tina needed some help so he became more active with the business and jumped in more often to assist when he was able. At that time, Jaime worked in the metal manufacturing industry- but in his spare time, when he wasn’t working at his full-time job, he helped on Skyline jobs or could be found maintaining and repairing the Skyline equipment. This immensely helped to keep Skyline always “rolling”. To this day Jaime is still helping with Skyline, in his spare time. Jaime throughout all these years has been a great support to Tina, working in the background as a sounding board, lending new ideas and perspectives, helping with finding, and securing new equipment for Skyline etc. Along the way Tina learned that she could no longer wear all the “hats” that the business needed if she wanted to grow her business more so she diligently worked at learning more about the business side of things- building a good culture and structure for growth for her team so that they could continue to help people in the community with their landscape needs.

You will now find Skyline operating 2-3 crews regularly with upwards of 9 team members at a given time – designing, installing, and maintaining landscape beds for people in our community and nearby surrounding communities. Skyline has grown to have an office manager, maintenance manager, installation manager, team leads and laborers to effectively get all their projects done. Everyone who works for Skyline is an integral part of the business. You can still find Tina working on any one of the Skyline crews at any given time or working at her desk designing, estimating projects, communicating with clients, ordering materials as well as all the tasks required of a business owner.

Skyline always strives for excellence when maintaining and installing landscapes, setting them apart from the rest. They are also different because of their attention to detail- Skyline attributes this to the fact that over the years they have primarily had women working on their crews. This wasn’t part of the design of the business, it just kind of ended up that way.

Meet Our Team

Tina Multhauf

Owner

Hi, I’m Tina Multhauf!

I grew up in the country, outside of Rochester and attended Waterford schools. I was a girl that liked to be outside working in the shop with my Dad, mowing the lawn- keeping straight lines of course, helping my Mom plant annuals every year as well as dirt biking and snowmobiling. During high school, my parents were adamant that I go to college and earn a college degree in something. I obeyed and after my freshman year in college while I was at UW-Stevens Point, I figured out what I wanted to continue my education with. I quickly transferred to UW-Platteville and ultimately earned, in 2008, my bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture with an Emphasis in Landscape Design.

Ever since I was in Grade School I have had an interest in plants and being outside. I worked at a floral shop, a few greenhouses, and a landscaping company in the Waterford and surrounding area. It was at those places that I found that I really enjoyed working with plants, learning about them as well as being outside. I knew I wasn’t necessarily a desk job type of gal. Which motivated me to acquire a degree in Horticulture and ultimately own Skyline Landscape Design.

I am blessed to have married my high school sweetheart, Jaime, in 2010. We now have three handsome little boys- Noah, Jed, and Beau. We have a sweet black lab- Bailey and 2 mischievous barn cats- Minnow and Laceys . My husband, Jaime, is a big part of Skyline, mostly behind the scenes though because most of his time is occupied by his regular job. He is an Application Specialist for Lenox Band Saw Blades. When he isn’t working his normal job, he helps maintain and repair Skyline’s equipment. I lean on him often for advice and guidance and greatly appreciate that.

Both of my parents grew up on farms, so I was raised with a similar mentality. In my upbringing, I learned how to be honest and respectful towards others, be accountable for my actions and work hard. To this day, I feel I still am holding true to those values in both my business and personal life and am going to do my best to instill those same attributes while raising my boys.

I enjoy creating useful, functional and enjoyable landscapes for all of our customers. I take pride in the fact that our customers are genuinely happy and appreciative of all the work that myself and my crew does for them. Very rarely do I have dissatisfied customers, but if a problem does come up I always make it right to the best of my ability. Even though this has been a very challenging career path, I wouldn’t have it any other way because challenges always keep me striving to be the best. We always strive for excellence when maintaining and installing landscapes that is what sets our company apart from the rest. I always say, “The point of a landscape is to look nice, otherwise what is the point?”

I look forward to helping create the outdoor spaces that you want!

Hailey

Office Manager and Crew Member

Hi there, my name is Hailey. This is my seventh season with Skyline. I am Office Manager and FES Manager; you can also catch me out on the job working alongside the crew often. Working for this company has been an excellent learning experience and has given me many opportunities to do things that I never imagined I’d be doing. I’m so grateful for these experiences and the people that I’ve met along the way. Being encouraged to be positive and how to grow better as a person has also been a great experience that I’m so grateful for.

I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors. Growing up I always enjoyed being outside and finding new adventures along the way. I enjoy fishing, hunting, being on the boat, camping and spending time with family and friends. I love capturing moments through a camera lens, creating fun little
crafts, and working in my landscape and nurturing my inside plant babies. My little family and I value creating beautiful memories and new experiences while watching our children learn and grow along the way.

Michaela

Installation Manager and Crew Lead

Hi, my name is Michaela and I am Skyline’s installation manager and designer/estimator. This will be my 9th season with Skyline. I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors and it’s a blessing to be able to enjoy being outside while having a career I love. My interest in the landscape started with my dad- He has worked in the landscape field my entire life. I was able to go to meetings and hangout on his jobs or around the shop with my siblings.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband, my two step kids and our son. I also enjoy spending time with both of our families, playing with my dogs, working out in our yard/tending to our garden in the summer, spending time on the boat/camping and pretty much anything outdoors.

Skyline has been a great company to work for. I have learned so much about the landscape and life. I have grown into someone I can be proud of and I thank Tina for a lot of that. Our positive work atmosphere makes coming into work everyday enjoyable. I enjoy making our customers landscape visons come true through our designs and installations. Making our customers happy with our completed work is something I take a lot of pride in.

Sydney

Crew Lead

Hey, my name is Sydney. I’ve been with Skyline for 5 seasons. Most days you’ll find me working on one of the maintenance crews, but I’ve also worked on our Install crew. I really enjoy working for Skyline, because I love being outside and constantly learning new things about the landscape.

In my free time, I like to ride my horses and live life with my boyfriend and our dogs, cats and chickens. I enjoy exploring new places and making new memories.

Hi! I’m Kelly. I moved here last August from Colorado, where I was an elementary school garden educator and involved in our community garden. This is my second season at Skyline and I have enjoyed it so much so far. I love watching the landscapes take their shape during the season and knowing that I was apart of that. I also enjoy working with other women who talk about plants as much as I do- it is a blessing.

When I’m not landscaping with Skyline, I’m puttering around my own garden, hanging out with my husband and beautiful children, dyeing and spinning yarn and weaving and beekeeping.

I am currently going into my junior year at UW Oshkosh where I am studying secondary education and playing softball. I am also a coach for my former travel softball team and love to give back to my community.
